I’ve already written at length about how much fun it is to stay at Coombe Mill with little ones when we visited previously, but spending time on the farm was such a central part of our Christmas week away – … Continue reading

With the New Year celebrations behind us, and my backlog of blog posts growing fast, I’ve finally managed to edit the hundreds of photographs we took during our Cornish Christmas last week. You may remember I was lucky enough to … Continue reading
I can’t tell you how relieved I am to make it to the Christmas holidays! It’s been an unbelievably busy few months at work, and when coupled with choir commitments and all the craziness of the build up to Christmas with … Continue reading
We’ve had yet another very local weekend – there’s just so much to organise before the Christmas break that we haven’t managed to fit in a proper day trip for ages. Oh well. We’ll make up for that when we … Continue reading
It’s been a week of magical experiences – with Alex’s very first encounter with the tooth fairy! I was quite shocked when he revealed a properly wobbly tooth, expecting that was something we wouldn’t be facing for at least a … Continue reading
After our busy half term and Sophie’s birthday, we’ve had a run of really quiet weekends – which, frankly, has been just what the doctor ordered! Our jobs have been crazy this past few weeks and chilling out at the … Continue reading
Two weeks ago, we celebrated Sophie’s 3rd birthday with a crazy party at Southwark Gymnastics Club. Sophie and 15 of her friends descended on Camberwell Leisure Centre for 90 minutes of totally exhausting exercise – and what a fabulous time … Continue reading
Just a super quick post to share our first set of school portraits of Alex and Sophie – I love them so much I’ve kept grinning at them in the few days since they came home in their school bags. … Continue reading
I’m back in the UK after a whirlwind of travel over the past few weeks. I normally stay pretty close to London at all times, but in the last week alone, I’ve been in New Orleans and Dublin. While I … Continue reading
Just sorting through the photographs on our camera and spotted a fun series we took a couple of weeks ago that I haven’t shared on the blog. We recently spent a wonderful Autumn afternoon in Sydenham Hill Wood, just up … Continue reading
Taking a break in normal blogging service to write a very different kind of post. Instead of working on my day job after the kids are in bed, or indeed catching up on my actual blog, I’ve been busy colouring, cutting and sticking for a little side project!
Some of you may remember I spent much of December last year trying hard to win a Christmas holiday at the amazing Coombe Mill Farm in Cornwall. We weren’t successful, but the process made me want to spend the holidays there more than ever – so I was thrilled to see another opportunity to spend Christmas at Coombe Mill arise. This year’s competition has had a somewhat more artistic side to it, with Fiona asking entrants to show what a Coombe Mill Christmas looked like in our minds. So I’ve tried to show what a difference spending the holiday there would make to our little family.
Featuring Alex and Sophie as themselves, and some fabulous artistic talent from our friend and lodger, Jo (who I hope will be able to share a Coombe Mill Christmas with us!) – here is a story of one rather exhausted, over worked and very urban family in need of some country calm and downtime.
p.s I should say – even if we don’t win the amazing holiday, we won’t spend Christmas Eve on our laptops as I suggest in the film! We do take one night off a year 😉
p.p.s Despite being Head of Digital and Creative Media in my day job, it turns out I know almost nothing about making films (I just hire super talented people for my team!) – so this experience has been a massive learning curve for me (and how many schoolgirl errors did I make?!). But what fun it’s been to spend my evenings making something fun rather than attacking my inbox! And Sophie and Alex thought their voice recording session was hilarious – Matt was a great voice coach!!

I’m sitting here with that tired but satisfied feeling you get after a lovely long walk. I’ve got my my feet up, a glass of bubbly at my side, the Rugby World Cup on TV and feeling super relaxed after … Continue reading
With Alex now at school full-time, and Sophie adjusting to nursery mornings and nap-free afternoons with her childminder, we’re finding both children are exhausted by the end of the week. So we’ve made the most of our local area for the … Continue reading
I’ve been sorting through some photographs this afternoon and realised that I haven’t written anything about our Summer staycation! After our week in Scotland, we’d planned to go and spend a few days camping in Northern France – but the … Continue reading
One of our early September highlights was my brother’s annual party – every year he gathers friends and family, gets in a big bouncy castle and throws a lovely party. This year’s theme was pirates! Alex and Sophie were so … Continue reading
