Sophie’s 5th birthday

I’m in trouble with my family for not sharing pictures of Sophie’s recent 5th birthday and generally getting behind with the blog again! And so…the big catch up begins…

Sophie was indeed five a couple of weeks ago. I’m still having a bit of trouble coming to terms with the fact that my littlest baby is now a school girl!  She was so very excited about her big day. For weeks before she’d been asking for a “unicorn that talks and walks” for her birthday. We sadly weren’t able to comply, but she was inundated with a whole host of other unicorn themed gifts including slippers, clothes, books, cuddly toys and even a sellotape dispenser (because, for some reason, Sophie loves tape!).

Here she is on her birthday morning with her big brother:

Check out the joy on her face at the sellotape dispenser!!:

Her birthday was in the middle of the half term break, and we ended up having a quiet day together.  Sophie went to a gymnastics club for a trial session which she absolutely loved, and we enjoyed some birthday cake together.

We saved the big birthday celebrations until last weekend.  We invited 10 of her school friends over to our house for a rainbow unicorn party.  I had great fun with the theming and went to town on Amazon and Etsy stocking up on unicorn horns, party bag favours, rainbow balloons, a ‘pin the horn on the unicorn’ game, unicorn skewers for fruit kebabs, and even a cute cake topper!  I spent an extraordinary amount of time making rainbow jelly and rainbow cake (won’t be doing that again for a while) – and the girls adored it.  It was such fun!

Here’s Sophie and her friends decorating biscuits together:

And colouring in unicorn drawings and making crowns:

They were all so sweet – I love their unicorn hats and themed tattoos!

The cake was the highlight for Sophie (and I liked that it was so big we could enjoy it for a few days afterwards!).

It was such a lovely day that I think Sophie will remember for ages.  She’s so proud to be five – she keeps reminding us that she’s a big girl now.  Here she is on all her birthdays:

  1. Lovely to read Pamela, I’m seeing Mum & Dad today and I know they’ll enjoy it too. Thanks for including us! The cake etc looks wonderful – I don’t know how you manage to do it all! All best wishes Rosie
