I’ve just realised I completely forgot to write about the first day of 2016 which is a shame as it was a fantastic start to the year. We went back to Kew Gardens to explore their Christmas Light trail. Having done it last year, we knew we’d enjoy it – and we weren’t disappointed this year. We loved seeing the new installations, as well as some of our favourites from last year including the beautifully lit greenhouse and fountains:
My favourite installation this year was the first one – a long row of bushes with lights changing and growing in intensity to a choral recording of In Dulci Jubilo. It was totally absorbing and we stood immersed in the music and lights for ages. Our pictures don’t remotely capture it!
We all loved seeing the tunnel of lights again – it was Emilia’s first visit and she clearly adored it!
Alex particularly liked the dangly lights, enjoying swooshing and running through them!
In the middle of the trail, we stopped to enjoy the little Victorian funfair – starting with the merry-go-round. The girls loved their horses, although for some reason Alex chose to sit on a sledge which didn’t move at all!
My favourite pics of the night came from the car ride the girls requested – look at those faces!! How happy do they look?
We had such a fun evening – it really is a stunning place and well worth a visit during the Christmas holidays. I love Kew Gardens on every visit, but there’s something so special about seeing it at night transformed by light and art.
The trees looked so magical lit in colours.
It was the perfect way to start 2016 on a high!
I think we need a little of Christmas in January, so much fun in December and January is a bit flat by comparison. This looks amazing and you capture the lights so well, I’m sure it didn’t happen when we lived close or I’m sure we would have gone, it looks such an exciting sight. Thanks for digging out the photos and sharing with me on Country Kids.
